here is the latest on the ferry sinking.
it's now 99 instead of 102 people.

All 99 passengers and crew are safe Wednesday after the ferry they were travelling on sank in choppy waters off the northern coast of British Columbia.

the ferry that travels from port rupert to
skidegate landing on the queen charlottes
generally takes 5 1/2 hours, but has taken
as long as 36. when the weather blows up,
the strait is not navigable and the ferry
will take shelter behind one of the coastal
islands and just wait it out.

this experience must have been very
frightening.
