So how do you explain "freakish devotion to Bush" in regards to the Dubai Port thing?

Explain it? Seems to me what when people support anything there is usually a variety of reasons and motivations. One might support it because one supports the institution/process that produced the decision. One might support it because it's politically or materially advantageous to do so. Or because the logic of it makes sense. Or because one's astrological chart says to.

And one might support it because one habitually supports Bush. Some people seem to need no other reason. Thus "freakish devotion to Bush" is one basis of support for Dubai, one of many, seems to me.

I supported it primarily out of respect for the institutions and processes and because I could find no good reason to object. Different people have different motivations. That's the way of the world.
