Gee, Mish.... I musta missed something. Around these here parts of the country, 5K or 10K or the 12K off list price, which the seller mentioned in the post, doesn't amount to much in negotiating a house sale, if we're talking about houses priced $500K to a million or up.

Did we know what price range the seller was talking about?

I used to negotiate away that much without either the seller or buyer caring very much either way. <<gg>>

Which gets the gist of my post......what price range was the seller in, and how close did he/she come to her original list price?

Any offer from a buyer that is within 95-97 percent of list price is considered a successful sale. I know standards changed a bit during the recent real estate frenzy, when buyers bid above and sometimes way above list price, but we're talking NORMAL real estate, and your blog friend maybe needs to learn something about NORMAL real estate sales.
