Your statement isn't just wrong it's silly.

The NRA doesn't represent the gun industry. There are other groups that do that. If it did it wouldn't in any way be wrong or bad, but that isn't the NRA's function. More importantly the NRA doesn't support unrestricted sale of automatic weapons. The "assault weapons" ban that they opposed, outlawed semi-auto firearms defined either by model name or by mostly cosmetic characteristics. It did not effect the sale of automatic weapons. Such weapons where already heavily regulated and still are. The NRA doesn't oppose these regulations.
