Google not working today? ;-)

A humor magazine that began publishing in 1919 (i.e. "after the war") and was popular through the 1930s. It was referred to in The Music Man when Prof. Harold Hill asked "Is your son memorizing jokes out of Captain Billy’s Whiz Bang?" as an indicator of depravity.

So, you see, it was a play on both Laz's age AND his depravity.

Figured nothing is too obscure with a clever audience and Google at hand. Guess I was wrong. ;-)

And I HATE having to explain jokes. I bet Laz got it, though.

PS: Had never seen The Music Man until a couple of weeks ago when in Utah for some skiing. A friend had her 9 year old granddaughter along. She got a copy for her birthday and wanted to watch it. Great flic, for a musical.
