I get a kick out of the jeans they sell now that look like they have been lying in the roadway. I usually take a pair to the sales clerk and tell her these need to be thrown out. <g> You know actually most kids here look pretty normal play baseball and such. I do remember seeing that stuff about 10 years ago in Santa Rosa at a mall it was really strange at first.

Sign language : Could you please tell me what that sign is that everybody uses that looks like the "Hook 'em, Horns" sign is, the one with the index and little finger held up??? I grew up thinking it was a dirty sign, but I asked a kid and she told me it was sign language for "love". Well, I just looked up love in ASL and it says cross arms over chest like hugging someone. So what is that sign, does anybody know? Everybody's doing it.

Yes, USA culture spreads faster than H5N1: <Do ya'll have the kids in the huge jeans with the belts hanging down so you can see their underwear, and the shoes with no laces?

That's called "jailing." In jail, you see, you can't have belts or shoelaces so you won't hang yourself or strangle others. In the neighborhoods where the men don't have jobs, the kids look up to the men who just got out of jail, and hope to grow up to be just like them.

Odd thing is, this particular style of dress came into fashion at least ten years ago. Very odd that it doesn't seem to pass.

I didn't know the expression "gaoling". From what I see, the fashion has taken a dive recently. Now, girls wear underpants which show out the top of their trousers. The BOTTOM of the underpants shows. I say to one of our daughters - "I can see the bottom of your undies". I like to taunt them. The undies are the stupid VPL-avoiding string through the bum, which seems silly to me.

<horter and darker (melanin!-rich compared to non-Latino whites) than the population in general, head down, mouth set in determination, flattened affect but keeping an eye open, and working hard, all the time. I like them. >

"Buy New Zealand Made", "Those are OUR jobs" [USA offshoring whining], seem absurd to me. "They took our jobs!" [Southpark episode which I heard about from son in law [common law]. I'd rather buy from the nice boy Tarken [son] and I met working dawn to midnight at the Beijing Youth Hostel for a pittance. It makes me quite annoyed to hear rich people who think they are poor in the USA and NZ whining about their bad lot in life, thinking the world owes them a living. Yes, I know about insulin this and blah blah that, but fat is fat and NOBODY was fat in Dachau.

The poor boy was only about 14 or 15 I guess and apart from a little sleep during the day, was on duty all the time, for a boss who I wouldn't tolerate for half an hour. Tarken gave him his [new - 3 week old] bicycle and he gave Tarken a carved bone bracelet. Tarken would let him keep the change if he could say how much it was in english. He was learning english quickly. I think he will want to come and live in NZ or USA or somewhere not China when he gets a chance.

I don't see why lazy slobs in "jailing" clothes and attitude should get the job. To hell with them.

The old adage is don't dress for the job you have, dress for the job you want. Kind of sad when you think about it. A lot of females are attracted to guys who have served time and that's really sad.
