There are two different issues at play here. If you want to discuss lying, we could discuss whether there was indeed some lying, some stretching of the truth, or just plain policy disagreements. How about a link? If you want to discuss lying, we could also revisit the last administration, where there was no doubt about the frequent prevarications. We are in that case talking about a president who was described by a member of his own cabinet (Robert Reich if memory serves me right) as more convincing when he lied than when he told the truth. His wife was of the same caliber, btw. What was your view of presidential lying at that time?
If your concern is domestic spying, since it was done by both administrations, what is the difference, other than our now being at war? Whether or not there was a law in effect, the administrations were trying to clean out some of the garbage trying to harm this nation, a noble goal. Whether the law applies could be discussed, but only if one can break out of his Bush-hating frame of mind and maintain some objectivity.
