Blacks are not who I was talking about. Anyone who fits the bill of not literate is whom I was discussing. No matter their color, and no matter how they vote.

BUT again, citizens of the US are the ones who are supposed to vote. ONLY citizens. If you don't like the results of what the voting has been, better look up your state laws and see what they are. Raise a HUGE fuss if you think things are not right. I think you will see what I mean when you look up the laws on registration and voting.

BTW, when I hear something like that, I am reminded again how different things are in the West and the East Coasts.....out West, we wouldn't immediately leap to such conclusions. Much more homogenized here, and must less biased. Don't forget, I lived for a few years in the East as well, and know what I'm saying is true.

I believe all American citizens should be allowed to vote but I would restrict it to only one vote per citizen and they should be alive and have some input into the decision. Some people can not vote on their own, like some visually handicapped, mentally handicapped etc., therefore you are allowed to take someone into the voting booth with you to help, plus you can take in some written materials if you like.

I worked at the polls back in '92. You come in state your name and if we find it in the list of registered voters, you sign your name next to the printout, and you get a ballot. If it is not in the register, then you get a "contingent vote", you vote anyway but it has some indication that you were not on the rolls.

One big factor is that people are allowed to look at the "who's voted already list" during the day. The democrats (this was a democrat precinct, I mean heavily weighted that way) would come in and make notes on who had not yet voted, then they would come back later with some voters they had picked up. We let everybody that wanted vote with no quibbling about it, a very democratic process. EXCEPT there was this one guy that the 'crats brought in with some other homeless people and he could not remember his name. One guy took him to the supervisor and he did not let him vote. I questioned why because I did not think it was fair as he was singled out, and I was told it was because he was drunk. I asked how he knew and he said he could smell it plus he could hardly stand up. I didn't think it was quite fair because lots of other voters were drunk, maybe it was because this guy was having trouble bumbling and stumbling around.

I worked real hard that day and got paid like $7 or so and had to pay income tax on top of that. A friend came in couple hours before last call and said CNN had already called the election. Well, we rushed through the vote counting after closing, and I know we failed to count at least one write in vote.
