Despite religion...evolution, empancipation yes, chance maybe not. Some great crimes have been perpetrated in the name of religion through history...anyway, look at the datapoints posted by combjelly...

That's not what he said. Its what he may have meant, but its not what he said. And I agree with the part that human religion in many ways is a farce. It does some good but I am beginning to think that good is outweighed by all the bad it creates.

Having said that, I don't think we are simply "a product of physical laws and chance". However, man's religion does not seem to have captured the essence of what that is all about.
