Not with non-resident with-holding tax on interest we paid on loans we had in the USA [according to the accountant = we should get a refund, but it doesn't seem that we'll get it].

<if u file your tax returns correct, u offset US taxes paid against NZ taxes paid. the 2 countries have a bilateral agreement on this.>

It's relatively small so I'm not too worried. The USA government owes us, but I can look on it as a donation to the worthy cause of shooting families, including children, in Iraq, and developing waterboarding techniques.

We learned over the last few years how complex the tax laws are when you invest offshore [spending a LOT in professional fees, but fortunately ending up in an excellent tax position].
