brushwud,

but its price has been estimated as $300 million, so if its sales are of the same magnitude, they are less than 1% of Dell's $56 billion. That isn't muddy. It isn't even material.

Just for fun, I am going to listen to the next Dell CC. I bet the time spent on Alienware acquisition will be far in excess of 1%.

One of the big advantages of the ALienware acquisition to AMD is this: At the next DELL CC, the analysts will be asking about the percentage gain of Alienware's sales over the two months, or later, quarter on quarter, etc. To the extent that DELL/Alienware is growing faster than beige-box DELL, it will put enormous pressure on DELL to sell more AMD CPUs.

If DELL tells us that they were up 20% or gives other warm fuzzies like, "Dell's gaming sales increased 100%", then I think a second baby may be close to being adopted.

OTOH, if they are tight-lipped and refuse to give comparisons, then nothing has changed. It was just a move to deflect criticism of Intel-only, which has grown louder and louder.
