Someone should tell Hillary that being an illegal alien has already been criminalized.....

I'm not so sure about that. That's why I asked the question. I always thought that illegal immigrants were criminals. It would seem that in common parlance they are, at least. But a while back I came to understand that they have committed a civil infraction, not a criminal one.

I'm finding the whole discussion about it odd.

Surely, you jest. No one tells clinton anything. WJC understands perfectly after Dubai....

The proposed law Hillary is complaining about is aimed at charities and churches. They want to make it illegal to give charity or minister to a member of the congregation unless they show you proof that they're a citizen first.

Not going to fly.

The Catholic Church is already saying they will resist.

And here's the specific text you have in mind.

She declared that Republican efforts to criminalize undocumented workers and their support networks "would literally criminalize the good Samaritan and probably even Jesus himself."

I saw a clip of that speech on Lou Dobbs' show last night. It looks to me as if Post got it slightly wrong. Her comments about the good Samaritan were about criminalizing helping immigrants only. Not about whether illegal immigration is illegal. I have seen nothing yet that suggests helping such immigrants is criminalized at the moment.

Negligent reporting.
