"Looters" is code language for "blacks". Just like "redneck" is code language for whites who come out of a racist background. You can listen to Charlie Daniels admitting all this in a 1980's interview he did. It's no big secret. Nixon started his Southern Strategy in the 60's. It's aim was to take away the George Wallace voters by pandering to old prejudices, fears and divisions. The Bush campaign has turned this into a modern science. And adding to the black-white division, they've tried to divide us in other ways as well. Educated vs. uneducated. City vs. country. Corporate conservative vs. free spirit. Straight vs. gay. Married vs. single. on and on. What all this does it fool middleclass rural whites in particular into voting agsinst their own interests. If you look at a typical Walmartized small town, you'll see it's hard times these days. Much harder than they were 10-30 years ago.
