<<Not
many folks are willing to make the initial investment in
time, money, and inconvenience to convert to a DC or
AC inverter integrated power generation system.>>

Big, that has always been the argument with any form of alternative energy but, this is changing rapidly, as prices for all components have been dropping and the saving on electrical becomes apparent...also in Ontario the government has encouraging programs in place..net metering..smart meters..buying back solar energy @.42 KWHR.It is becoming main stream lately...Canadian tire has been selling solar panels, inverters, and wind mills for the last 2 years.
<<Then too
there are the covanant and building code issues to consider
and the unit requires a pretty good constant wind to be
worthwhile. Might be good for a larger boat.>>

Building code issues are handled as they always are ...by experienced electrician and of course it would help to have reasonable neighbours..but the new AIR-X is apparently whisper quiet so flutter noise issues should be history.Wind turbines and solar have been on larger sailboats for many years.
