As fate (or rather, my daughters) would have it, we were at the library tonight. I have, in my hot little hands, the King Hereafter. I'm so excited. I used to teach Macbeth, and when we lived in Scotland King Duncan's grave was underneath the gas station at the end of our street (a sign, I'm sure you'll agree). King Duncan's Well was across the street- not far enough from the grave for my tastes, but there you are. I told the librarian about your recommendation and she also likes historical fiction so she is also going to start reading Dunnett. :-) Just trying to keep you up to date.
