These numbers fly against the facts of accruing short interest. Someone must be lying in their testimony to the AAII;

here is the data since 2004 someone should plot it against the AAII ledger for the same period.
Note in the long tabulation of growing Short interest the decline in the number of companies.....add to this problem stock buy backs, and we have a shrinking market against which accumulating liabilities are being drawn.
