The FEC doesn't write the law, so it's still worth paying attention to. But I'm that concerned about bloggers, they couldn't reign them in if they wanted to.

Regulating grass roots activists is another matter. Lobbyists aren't just the big boys from K Street, there are many who represent small non-profit organizations. These lobbyists can't shower them with cash because they are prohibited from forming PACs. Their clout comes from the bloc of votes they have in their pockets. Politicians don't like dealing with these people, they are seen as a potential threat. What they don't understand is these same people can be their protectors.
