In retrospect do you feel that your comments were all correct? Things change in eight years.

I think that Explorer might have been a product they tried to sell. Netscape was better, so Microsoft started giving it away. Who doesn't like extra free stuff?

I remember noticing about that time that innovation of Office products which had been rapid fire during the wordprocessor and spreadsheet wars had slowed dramatically. It seemed that the hot shot developers were working on the next battlefield product.

There are now several makers of computers that come with Linux instead of Windows. Apple is still confused about the value of their computers. Windows is the default for most users. Computers have gotten fast enough that even a bloated interface loads pretty fast.

Throughout history there have been people like Gates. In the late 1800's they were called robber barons. The Medici's dominated trade for quite a while. There have been many others and the future will bring us many more.
