The new rationale for deficits is that they are "within historical norms" as a percentage of GDP, and they are smaller than some other western allies on a GDP percentage basis.

The fact that we are piling on more and more absolute debt that has to be repaid one day (and serviced in the meantime) no longer enters into it. Indefinite debt increases are the new "norm".

It can't go on forever without some real pain down the line.

I'm SICK of partisan politics and I would like to see candidates start thinking about the country rather than just what plays in Peoria.

Me too.

There was a great letter to the editor in today's Manatee Herald lambasting the local politicians for allowing more homes to be built than the roads can handle. Then proposing a five cent gas tax on to build new roads..

The salient message was that the politicians don't think about the people anymore. It has come to where those in office think more about images,partisan-ism than truly serving the best needs of the people and country.
