EC:

<<it is unlikely that a worldwide walrus blubber industry will arise.>>

How can you say such a thing? I see numerous applications that would lead to a massive increase in demand...

- Laying very thick layers of blubber on the paving around government high rise buildings, to prevent bureaucrats from Indian and Northern Affairs from killing themselves when they jump

- Adding 10% blubber to gasoline to increase acceleration

- Starting a "Blubber Futures" contract on the CME. This could be the clincher, leading to a massive blubber-short-squeeze. Not be a pretty sight. :^)

OK... I'll stop blubbering on...

<It is deadly to the Eskimo and the Northern Indian.>

There are all sorts of dietary issues on reservations throughout N. America. OTOH, if one looks at the N. American population in general and the "obesity issue", it's becoming clear IMO that a massive scientific undertaking to try and understand diet in a more general way perhaps along the lines of genetics is in order for all of us.

Why is everyone changing the subject from seal pups being slaughtered for fashion items from native sealing for food? Someone isn't thinking and it aint me.
