No, Everclear is 180 proof, the same stuff they add to gasoline. One sip of that stuff can tear your guts up. It's mainly added to punch in small amounts to give a kick.

Shine is usually sold at 80 proof and if made in Russia they call it Vodka. Be careful of who you buy your shine from, some use clean copper boilers and cooling tubes and that's good. OTOH the cheaper shiners use old car radiators for condensing tubes. Radiators are soldered together with LEAD soldier and the lead leaches into the booze, plus they may add some unhealthy things for added kick and taste. Blind drunk? You could be blind for life on the cheap shit.

Let me pontificate a little more about proof. In days of yore alcohol was mixed with black gunpowder and if it burned when lit, it was called 100 proof.
