I think you misunderstood, I don't think they were calling for the head of Steve Ballmer, particularly, I think they were just wanting some head, in general.

And, I really don't think these people have enough of an overview to issue proclamations.

Major upgrades to XP have been handled by its BUILT IN web upgrade machine, which most users have used 30 or 40 times.

XP itself works very well and still sells, what 2 million copies a day? With no real complaints.

Improvements like IE7 which normally would have required a new release, let the upgrade be disseminated without all the hassle.

And all this jumping up and down and backseat driving is pretty lame coming from those who are normally MS bashers.

Yes, it is much harder on the white box guys, and even AMD and Unisys to a certain extent, but MS has major shit in the pipeline which will keep others happy until January.
