When Dale booted me for a relatively innocuous post, no fewer than eight others posters on that thread, including ionesco, petitioned him to reconsider. None of it changed his mind, but I appreciated the effort.

Sioux has never had the opportunity to evict me. Every once in a while i check out his bans. I recently found a particularly lucid and interesting person on the list and started posting to them on other subjects.

Everything you need to know about Dales's subject is in his header. If you watch centrist news, you don't belong on it. He prefers people who only watch the Press Corpse.

In the interest of correctness, the guy you're talking about is an American who used to work for the US foreign service in Europe (back in the Clinton era when he was a hawk re. intervention in the Balkans). Seems to have quit rather than work for the Bush administration (good, imo - wish more would) and now is an amateur/would be fund manager who follows his wife around the world - as she still works for the foreign svc. Think they're in one of the little countries just next door to SA, not SA itself but westerners who live in nearby countries - like Angola - travel to SA a lot.

There's also an ex foreign service guy or gal who used to post on FADG - gst. How people who don't really like the US much want to go to work for the foreign service puzzles me. Maybe its a matter of clientitis or seduction by Euro "sophistication" or something.
