Educate me. I'm all ears.... I've said it all before.........the kids in urban schools.....even in cities as small as Little Rock.....have all kinds of problems. Autism, dyslexia, hyperactivity, poor sleeping habits, a bad homelife, some are not getting the proper food and health care.......and you want the teachers to overcome all these problems and make them A students. Not in this lifetime. Why is it that you don't want to listen to what teachers are saying? You accuse them of incompetency, laziness, duplicity......all the things you should be accusing Bush and his chronies......instead you pick on teachers. Anyone who chooses to be a teacher at current wages in urban schools is one very dedicated human being. After 4 years of undergrad and two years of grad school, I will be making $45K.......that's not that much above my starting salary just out of undergrad quite a few years back. That means that I will have to work as a real estate agent on weekends to make up for the shortfall from my current salary which, in reality, is down from 5 years ago. And you think these people are blowing smoke up your butt? Think again. Instead of accusing teachers, try to figure out why so many kids are so deficient in this country. Given what I am seeing in schools here, this has got to be the worse crop of kids in this nation's history. Other people in my cohort are saying the same thing. I don't know what the cause is but its worrisome.
