Why doesn't CONgress have the balls (and the courage) to do what is right...? Unfortunately Bush/Cheney amplified the anger and nationalistic fervor of the public and in their rush to lead from behind Congress got in bed with them. The Republicans and a lot of Democrats picked up the same diseases and suffer the same deformities. They can't change course without looking like what they are...pandering wimps who would do almost anything to hold onto power. It appears it will take some new faces in office or a strong wave of changed public opinion before they get a backbone. In the end, of course, it's our fault for being such ill informed consumers when it comes to choosing our representatives. We'll someday have to be less worthy of the contempt most office holders rightfully hold for us. Ed
