On one hand we had north africans largely rioting for jobs and now we have students rioting for guaranteed lifetime jobs for them only---thank God, US is not class based/socialist society. I wonder if France can survive this.

Good question.. the more promises a government makes to its people, the more they will expect from it. It's easy for a politician to promise to spend other people's money (taxes) and make lifelong promises.

Not that I'm against a social security network that provides assistance to those who need it. But it cannot be considered an entitlement that fails to require something in return from the recipient. (Workfare vs Welfare models).

My father's been ranting over the last day or two about how many illegal workers in the area, as well as indigent US citizens have been going to the local hospital for free medical care. One gal they know, without health insurance, has had two children out of wedlock, and not paid anything for the deliveries, or the medical care.

It's placing a tremendous burden upon the hospital (small town), and some of the nurses and doctors he knows have warned that something has got to give eventually..
