In the 80's seems the central bankers were out to squeeze inflation out of the system and the first part of the 90's AG wanted to make sure never to let it out of the bag. On the long end there was an inflation premium built into rates. Today we have the exact opposite with no inflation premium built into rates. If that changes suddenly it could be real trouble..
