The Dem leadership is with the "cheap labor" Republicans and Bush on the issue. The smarter Republicans are running against them already. It gives them an issue they can go against Bush on that isn't Iraq,. and changes the subject FROM Iraq. I'm not aware of ANY Dems coming out strong against illegal immigration. Looks like they are going to end up losing this issue too - they really are brainless.

re: The current party in power is in a sandwiched situation. Voted out by the dems or their own party...depending on where they eventually come down on the immigration issue. Bush has blown it. Frankly, I can't figure out why the Reps close to make it an issue RIGHT NOW, before the mid-terms. They didn't......the Minutemen did. They are starting to remind me of Democrats. When it comes to being wishy washy on important issues, I don't think there ever has been much difference.
