Peter, There should be a spending cap in every phase of government but I don't expect to ever see that in the near future. As long as there are elderly people, and welfare families, the politicians will vie for their votes, and promise anything it takes to get them. To retain their office, the have to monetarily show that they are keeping their promise, so the caps go out the window. Our whole election system has gone rotten, and nobody seems to want to change that. Term limits would be a good start, but don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

Fearfully, at some time, this whole house of cards is going to collapse, and things will really get bad. Then it will be every man for himself, and anarchy may reign.

I feel sure that the Founding Fathers are spinning around in their graves at the prostitution of the Constitution, caused by the politicians.
