Actually there is nothing stopping gays from marrying. they can do so if they wish. What is stopping them is getting a license from city hall. They don't need that.

The church does not have to marry them, nor does any pastor if he does not want to. They can always deduct a dependant. They always could. However they cannot deduct for birth control expenses.

I can name anyone in an insurance policy as a beneficiary. If the state will only allow spouses, then that is a crazy law. It has to be rooted in perhaps victorian era, or late neo-con era politics. It does not make sense no matter what your orientation.

It does not matter what a state allows or does not allow. They cannot interfere unless you are in Alabama and you want to slamma dama.
