<Can you explain this one above for me please.>

The Catholic Church is in much less denial of science... current church dogma "attempts" to include science in the realm of god rather than compartanmentalize it. Many Christian sects practically vilify science as 'other than god'.

Evolution is a good example, the Catholic Church thinks what is going on in Kansas is just plain stupid. And it is.

We can probably thank Galileo and others for that. :)

One should note also that the Anglican (Episcopal in the US) Church is not nearly as homo-phobic as the Catholic Church and there are many 'main stream' Churches (Lutheran, etc) that don't have a problem with science. I'm NOT a religionist, but there are tons of normal people that go to church including scientists, so IMHO part of the current hoopla is due to the secularists, who think they have some kind of high ground.... their viewpoint is somehow superior, somehow 'smarter' not to go to church. LOL, just the flip side of the religionist. So to make this into a 'war' IMO there are two sides with closed minds, and they (as usual) are just the fringes of much larger groups. To lump the nut job bible thumpers in with more main stream religion is a big mistake IMO.
