In fact, I wish I never heard of that damn religion. However, how can you ignore 9/11? Wasn't that a real clarion call that shouted emphatically that we can no longer ignore Islam or the perversion it has become? Think about 9/11. As horrific as it was, it was one of two Islamic terrorist attacks on our country ever in our history (both by the same guy). And from everything you now hear, it was preventable even with our lower level of consciousness of the risk (at that time). Will there be other terrorist attacks against the US, probably. Will they be that significant, probably not. Think about the goals of the terrorists? They don't give a crap about those 3000 people that died, one way or another. They care about our reaction. And we played right into their hands. They "terrorized" us, and we reacted with a stupid war that has fed money into Muslim treasuries and has bled our treasury. It's given them a huge recruiting tool. bin Laden couldn't have asked for more. Think about international terrorists. There are what, 1000, 2000, 10,000, 100,000 worldwide? How do we get them with armies or bombs, especially when the use of armies and bombs just increase their number. It's like sending armies and bombs against burglars... it's just doesn't work. The core problem is that the lifeblood of our economy is oil, they have it and we need it. If we didn't import oil, our presence in the Arabian Peninsula would be next to nothing... 9/11 wouldn't have happened. We've got 4.5% of the worlds population and use 25% of the worlds oil. We are incredibly inefficient in the use of a finite and increasingly precious commodity that is the lifeblood of our economy. We have the technology to solve the root of the problem right now... all we need is the will, vision and commitment. You can rant against fundamentalist Islam 8 hours a day, but you would be better served to rant against our own waste of oil, and all the subsequent problems that creates. There is no way we are going to go into a religious world war... but we could easily solve the entire problem right here at home. It's so obvious and easy. John
