The NYT is not a far left news org. Folks who criticise it should read it for a few months first. Skip the op eds if you wish, just the news, local news, business and sports. Its great.

Only one reason the rightwing attacks our finest newspapers. Because they remember that Thomas Jefferson insisted on a strong honest press for the purpose of standing up to and bringing down corrupt politicians. There is no other reason. ANyone with a brain knows that the NY Times or Washington Post are 100 times more credible than anything you'll find on the Hannity-Limbaugh-Newsmax-CNS side of things. Those rightwing propaganda orgs posing as news reporters have one goal in mind, to cover up the wrongs of their corrupt leaders, and to smear anyone who criticizes them, especially honest heroic leaders like Kerry and Murtha, whom they fear the most. They also ridicule irrelevant Jane Fonda types who at some point in their lives went over the line. Big deal. Rightwingers like Dick Cheney, Tom Delay and Pat Robertson go over the line all the time. At least Jane Fonda never tried to plunder our treasury and pollute our environment. And the war she was protesting turned out to be dioshonest and wrong, as most hawks finally agreed in the 70's once the evidence from the Pentagon Papers was in.
