I have it on good authority (the folks on the PfP thread) that the liberal bias of the papers is the cause of declining readership.<g>

I have no idea how to find the link, but recently read an article about a guy who owns a string of local newspapers and is still making a fortune.

Ad revenue, of course. There are very few ads in the online papers.

With the right demographic, publications can be given away free and still make plenty of money.
