"... if you live in New Mexico and don't like the local economy, you can just move to New York and get a job there. That isn't the same as if you live in Italy but wish you could have that job in Germany, ..."

As an Italian you can also just move to Germany and get a job. In that sense there is no difference. The bigger obstacles to lower level jobs are language and a few other intangibles like foreignness. English is becoming ever more important in business in Europe in general. However, speaking the local language can only help career prospects.

You know - alexander the great tried to unify those nuts, then ceaser, then Napolean, then hitler - one day they will watch an episode of star trek with the Borg and figure out there is strength in assimilation and one unifying language, culture, custom, etc etc.

Screw diversity.

They had an episode where there were 2 commander rikers - hell lets start a clone army - I want to see 1 million commander rikers. Think of the savings we would have and efficiency in society. All cars could be made for one size - Riker sise - all signs could be made in one language - rikers langauge - all clothes his size.

Emporer Palpatine could have NEVER taken over the republic if he had to make storm trooper suits in different hieghts and sizes.
