i apologize for the late reply...

but i do want to respond to this:

I think the right to be left alone is an important right. I worry that with all the data mining going on that right is going out the window. I think data mining allows unfortunate sieving and searching of very personal information of innocent people, or people for whom no probable cause exists. I don't like TIA.

e...this data mining has been going on for decades (as i am sure you are aware)....the only thing relatively new is the efficiency by which your personal information is accessed...

to be sure...i am much more concerned about the hassle and unwanted 'prodding' that comes from commercial interests WAY more than the federal or state governments...

i seriously cannot name a single time the feds or the state has solicited me in any way, (except for when THEY screwed up on a 940 form which had been filed yet mysteriously 'disappeared')....the commercial prodding and poking as a result of my 'personal information' (quite a myth) being sold and disseminated bugs me no end...

however, i realize the only way to alleviate that would be to go to an all cash transaction based existence....way too cumbersome, annoying and detrimental (personal credit rating)...and so i consider the 'hounds' who have access a necessary evil and part of doing business in a digital world...

i 'circular file' them....

what do you do?
