Not to start another discussion which would be certain to lead nowhere... but on the dates mentioned in this post we - and the Coalition - still were in a state of war against Saddam's regime... and he was, in fact, in violation of the ceasefire. I would certainly hope that US officials and military would keep discussing various contingencies as to how to deal with this problem. What does "thinkprogress. org" expect? That they would never bring up the issue?
