"Energy independence is ONE PART of the equation, but that doesn't stop these wackos from continuing to commit terrorist acts against us."

If they have to drink oil then they won't be so aggressive.
The point is that the al-qaeda movement was primarily aimed at the Saudi regime.

True support means getting away from the Mossedeq syndrome and really providing freedom for those countries that are run by despots. Especially when it turns up.

") Out of Iraq and back to Afghanistan.

Great idea!! Just leave the two places where Al Qai'da is currently fighting to Talibanize 40 million people and put them into Burkhas, and you want to just give them free rein?

Should we send "welcome wagon" packages to Zarqawi, Bin Laden, and Zawahiri and tell them to "come home".. Maybe we should offer them foreign aid while we're at?"

I think you misunderstood this part of my post. I'm for getting back into Afghanistan and getting rid of Osama. As for Iraq the Iraqis are probably better equipped to get rid of the al-Qaeda types.

"Are you willing to invade Pakistan to accomplish this? What if he's in Iran? Are you willing to invade Iran?"

What do we have the CIA for? Osama is not a head of state, just a common criminal.

"It's not my fault... I'm perfectly willing to listen to Zonkie's proposals, as I am yours.

But Zonkie seems to be more focused on hating Bush than proposing some alternative strategies (even if they are flawed, or superficial as your initial attempt).

So maybe you should fling some criticism towards her/him/it, rather than me?"

Not worth while to talk to Zonkie. No reason to contribute to his rants directly so I did it indirectly.
