I am surprised there has been no comments regarding this post.
Are all here invested in oil sands as well as alternative energy??<g>Do those numbers posted regarding natural gas and oil sands production stand up to scrutiny??Maybe time to go full bore into NG and to hell with shoulder season storage and the rest??
gg

1000 cf of gas goes for around US$7 so a million would cost US$7000,...to produce a barrel of oil worth US$70

I think someone has moved a decimal point three digits to the right :-)

Oil sands, besides their obvious problems of requiring tremendous energy inputs and water to mine and refine into petroleum products, just aren't going to provide enough petroleum to make a significant difference in the big picture. The optomistic estimates are that Canada can increase their oil sands/petroleum production to 3 million barrels per day, from 1 million barrels per day, so net 2 million barrels per day. Sounds great, but that extra supply will literally be outpaced by rising demand in as little as 2 years. So, all those pundits telling us don't worry we have plenty tar sands are full of it. Tar sands will be a short term fix to a problem that will only be solved with a new energy regime that does not include petroleum.
