i expect there are some that are not interesting in working at any price and there are some who are not employable.

as to raise prices high enough to get americans interested in working that job. i guess you would need some type of price supports for that small business to make a profit and provide for his family too.

My biggest problem Patron is that KIDS used to do the things lots of the mexicans do - taught them a good work ethic and kept people concerned about the workers doing that job. Kept the money in our borders. But oprah said OH POOR KIDS - they cant do that - lets make some mexican do that while my kids watch me on TV.

You care a lot more when it is your kid than when it is some guy who looks different and cant even speak your language.

If it was you or your neighbors kid out there cutting the grass versus some strange mexican who cant talk to you - people seem to care more.

<The thing I dislike about the "we need Mexkins (illegals) 'cause they'll do the jobs Americans won't" argument is that if they weren't around, the pay would be high enough to GET "Americans" to do it, or the job doesn't really need doing in the first place. >

That seems to be the case in much of New England and the upper midwest that is still very white. Amazing to see the difference up there compared to Florida or California.. The toll collector or hotel housekeeper.

Just another stupid comment from our president. Perhaps getting some of the 50%+ of unemployed young black males in the job market, off the streets and out of prisons would be a bigger priority...

In other words, they're allowed in to glut the labor market and keep wages down for the Man to profit.

well not quite...

if it weren't for the 'mexkins' willing to do labor intensive low pay jobs for "the man", eventually our technology would find a way to eliminate the job entirely with some sort of mexibot strawberry picking machine

we call that productivity enhancement here<g>

right now with the cheap mexkin labor the cost/benefit analysis doesn't support the technology

:)
