I had some croatian friends that came to this country Mish - they did not understand a lot of our ways. I met a lot of people at the international clubs in college - ukraine, russia, mexico, brazil, UAE - etc etc Many times they also did not understand some of our ways - it was very confusing to them sometimes. I myself spent much of my childhood in europe, then lived in hawaii and various parts of the states - the differences were challenging to adapt too sometimes.

I read about romanian gypsies in the midwest who try to practice thier culture and are arrested for statutory rape - ignorant to the law of our land. Then I read about migrant mexicans who do the same thing in south florida (marrying a girl under 16) and the authorities here do not put the man in jail as they did in the romanian gypsy case - for the same violation. I think it is time to face facts - you cannot import all these various cultures into our country and overnight expect them to understand things like people who have lived here for generations - but our legal system seems to be very intolerant of this. As the demands on the legal system grow - quick unfair justice will become more common.

We can't even prosecute across gender equally - how are we to have a fair system across race, culture, and circumstance that is universally equitable to all - not possible.

Melting pots don't mix so well - there are already so many other complexities in modern day society - combine all these other issues and you need MORE tolerance - not less - but less is where I see things headed as your article proves.
