O/T Does anyone know of an active board that discusses scientific instrument companies, specifically Varian Inc (VARI)? I am curious to know the reason for the Thos. Weisel upgrade today or to read a summary or the text thereof, but I can no longer search message text on SI. Thank you kindly.

True, it is somewhat unclear as to whether or not the 2H06 slowdown is Bookings or Billings, but the "average" time from Bookings to Billings is in the neighborhood of 3 months. Some can go to 6 months or more, but some are within the month. KLIC for instance usually can ship within 30 days once they have received the order. This is why KLIC is considered the "canary" in the coal mine. Any drop in Bookings or Billings by KLIC is considered very serious. Looking at the table, KLIC shows a nice upward trend throughout 06 of 0.22, 0.20, 0.26, and 0.30. If anything, the slowdown in orders is now with a strong 2H06. Don
