WASHINGTON - John Dean, counsel to President Nixon during the Watergate scandal, is headlining a Senate hearing Friday on whether to censure President Bush for authorizing a domestic wiretapping program as part of the war on terrorism.

The title of Dean’s 2004 book, “Worse Than Watergate: The Secret Presidency of George W. Bush,” made his view of the administration clear even before the wiretapping program became public.

After The New York Times revealed the program in December, Dean wrote that “Bush may have outdone Nixon” and be worthy not just of censure but impeachment.

"What specific acts did you commit that caused you to plead guilty to a felony?"

"Is it true that you comitted perjury?"

"Why do you believe that someone such as yourself, an admitted perjurer, admitted obstructionist and convicted felon should be believed now?
