Rat,

When I started Santa Clara (private) in 1982, tuition was an outrageous $5200, with room and board running another $2700. 4 years later, law school at a U.C. ran just $1300 per year (with a commute from home). I'd say that inflation for both since that time has been enormous.

Student loans may be deductible, but staying out of debt as long as possible sure sounds good from here. I wouldn't want to guess wrong that the value of any stock will hold steady.

Congrats, and good luck.
