>>Do you think people buy a Lexus for it's looks or value?<<

Don -

If you're going to start arguing that people don't care about the looks of a car, you're going to lose all credibility.

Do you think people buy a Lexus for it's looks or value?

Is that a multiple choice question? What happened to all of the above?

Just look at Lexus SC430 that convertible sport car. It is not selling because it is ugly. A great car and with the name Lexus, but when it is ugly, people don't buy.

Apple has the right idea of great packaging. Beautiful shaped laptop, Ipod etc.

I have to agree that Apple's designs do matter. They are a factor in most peoples decisions. How much of a factor varies to some degree vs. the superior OS.

For example my Quicksilver Dual gig is great to work on as are the G5 towers. And they are built quite well generally. Much better than the crap Gateway or Dell sells.

The small form factor machines are also very nice. The form factor on these could be very significant to someone living in NY or San Francisco where real estate is very very expensive.

In fact I think the success of the iPod is directly related to the perception that Apple both designs and manufactures superior products.
