Taking place on a natural basis yes.Last years Hurricane season could have been even worse if it wasn't for a strong westerly sheer which ripped apart about 15 Cape Verde tropical waves during a 3 to 4 week period from late July to mid Aug and yet we still had Katrina which was able to survive the sheer.
Remember conditions have to be almost perfect in order for a depression to develop into a hurricane. Of course warm water temps but most important is the upper level winds. Its these winds that will determine the season.Thank goodness we are not in hurricane season yet because there are currently no winds in the eastern atlantic With a stalled strong High Pressure. We better hope that pattern changes by "May" or we are in trouble.
