the govt ensures costs of "worker" deaths are minimized
refer to military payouts
the govt ensures costs for prosthetics are kept low

last week I bumped into a USNavy veteran in a library
he wore a blue and gold cap, a black man
we talked about his Gulf War experience in 1991
he served for 7 years in all, including Turkey

in 1991, he got too close to burning oil well fires
he got the Gulf War Syndrome
headaches, spinal aches, congestion of lungs, blood disorder
the Veterans Admin denied him treatment
they called it "a typical disorder for black men"
he collects 60% disability in monthly pension
he feels betrayed

I asked about wanton killing of Iraqi civilians
he said "some but not much"
he was concerned about so many soldiers in the line of fire
with civil and sectarian violence
he said "you cannot believe too much about the war from the media"

interesting but not surprising
they keep his medical costs down, that is for sure
