>> Hosted software doesn't have spyware.

You must mean on-site business terminals. The vast majority of PC's are for consumer use. And nearly all of India and china's PC's will be that type. spyware and adware is a very prevalent and annoying problem. One of the reasons Vista is so eagerly awaited is that supposedly it provides new tools for combatting same.

>> Consumers ARENT buying over-powered PCs, thats the point, thats why Dell and Intc are performing so poorly.

Well, all the AMD fans say the reasons that Dell and Intel are faring poorly is because there chips are not powerful enough. You saw Dan earlier present it as a negative point that the 65-nm chips did not reach the 3.8 GHz of the old 90-nm process. In fact all the negative articles on Intel fault them for losing their lead in performance.

They buy how many processors per year 1000 ? 5000 ? (out of 150 million). There is zero chance that Intel processors would not have run google's software. They probably got a good price deal, or maybe over-all cost (with power and cooling) was lower.
