Re: "You apparently miss the point that whether you or I consider someone else's thinking to be backwards most likely makes no difference to that person."

No I don't. It should make a difference to you, however, because Iran states that it has ugly goals.

Re: "Iran's view is undoubtedly that they have the right to do what we also do, which is to produce nuclear power for energy, and nuclear weapons in the name of "security""

Yes, and more, namely that Iran's leader adamantly wishes to, for instance, wipe Israel off the map. If it weren't for that sort of thing occurring first, a peacefully Nuclear Islamic Iran shouldn't be a worry, as Iran otherwise suggests. As Bush says, we NEED To encourage the use of Nuclear power around the world.

Currently, Iran not only wants to wipe Israel away, but it seems that if we insist on being sure they don't develop the Nuclear capability to accomplish such, they now claim they've got thousands of folks ready to suicidally decimate America, when they COULD just say "come on in and have a look."

Re: "but I don't believe he (Saddam) ever threatened to attack us first."

I do believe you are very wrong there. I'm sure he vowed America would pay dearly for what it did in 1991.

"In the 10 years since the Gulf War ended, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has said that he has always considered himself at war with America."
