re: What kind of learning divergence are we creating as advanced education becomes more and more critical to one's well being as an adult? In the poorer district, some students will excel simply because they are that bright and/or they have considerable support at home. But the vast majority are growing up with mediocre learning skills and only a bare minimum understanding of technology.

I'm going to bow out of this discussion as I have little to contribute. No kids, no real knowledge of the schools these days except what I read in the paper. All I do is pay for them with my property taxes <g>.

On thing that is weird about Florida, most schools start their year the first week in August, now some are moving to the last week in July. They say it's all to prepare for the FCAT. Parents are starting to rebel.
